This off-the-cuff comment from a young boy pretty much sums up the ridiculousness of math problems in most elementary curricula. Where’s the relevancy? Why do we do this to kids?

Problems like this one are meaningless explorations into schoolish practices. It’s no wonder why so many children are turned off by mathematics.
